My paintings are inspired by dreams and transient ideas that I first catch with charcoal pencil on toned paper, and later flesh out into pigment paintings on unprimed canvas. Each winter Alexander and I live and paint in rural Colombia, an experience that has made a great impact on my work. Cultural identity and the re-merging of human consciousness with nature consciousness are deep themes for me. Human forms blend and interact with mountains and foliage; animals communicate worlds with their eyes. Just as the physical world often tricks us with illusions, it is my dearest wish to break the illusion of separation and artistically expose the undercurrent of life where everyone and everything is one.
